Course Details

This course will cover a range of voice lessons to ensure each student can sing harmoniously with the tanpura. Instructor Kuber will impart the concept of taal (rhythm) as she guides students through the process of developing correct voice usage and practical techniques. Students will also learn a myriad of brandishes (compositions), ragas, along with elaboration techniques for both. Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will become familiar with many popular brandishes and will enjoy a refined vocal technique that will leave them well-prepared to pursue an advanced Hindustani classical vocal course. Led by established artist Anuradha Kuber, enrollees will also reap the benefit of working one-on-one with someone who has a proven track-record of success in the current music industry.

ABOUT THE TEACHER: Anuradha Kuber is a renowned vocalist of the Bhendi Bazar Gharana. She trained for 15 years under the veteran musician Guru Pt. T.D. Janorikar, a foremost exponent of the Gharana. While a proficient musician of her own right, Kuber continues her education with musicologist Dr. Arawind Thatte. Kuber has performed in many major Indian cities including many music organization events and music festivals. Recipient of the Gaanhira award, Sur Mani award, Manik Varma award, among others, Kuber’s musical talent has come to be known by a vast audience through her performances and many CDs. Today, Kuber ensures the continuation of this time-honored tradition by teaching the musicians of the next generation the beauty of Hindustani classical music.

The ipassio Edge

It also gives teachers the opportunity, to gauge their students progress in depth and make changes whenever and wherever required, to ensure the student gets the maximum out of this course. Since this course is detailed, students get the advantage of learning intricate details about this art form. The limited strength of the class also ensures that there is a strong bond between the students and their teacher clearing out any inhibitions that the student might have. The sustained guidance available from the teacher ensures that the student does not deviate from set goals or targets. Learning from a revered, experienced exponent of this art form, through the long duration of this course, keeps the student inspired and motivated to achieve more.
