This is a beginner Hindustani vocals course for young students aged 5-9 years. This course will include an introduction to Hindustani music, the foundational lessons for Saptak, basic Swaras, and lead up to Sargam Geet studies.

Course Details
Hindustani Classical Vocals for Young Students is a beginner Hindustani course for students aged 5-9 years. As a foundational Hindustani course, Ms. Ashvini Modak will be covering an introduction of classical music. This introduction will include: Saptak—the series of seven notes Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni; basic Swara patterns; and practice techniques. With the oversight of their instructor, students will practice and learn four Sargam Geet in different ragas; Bhupali, Kafi, Bhairav, and Bhairavi.
Students will need access to the internet and a computer. A notebook and pen will be utilized for note taking. To ensure success during this course, students should allow for time not only to attend the course online but to practice independently as well. Students will practice online, live with their instructor gaining critical guidance as they begin to learn is art-form. Learning online with an award-winning vocalist and experienced instructor, Ms. Ashvini Modak, students will gain the ability to sing simple sagas and perform for family or friends. After completion of this course, each pupil will have a strong foundational understanding of Hindustani, upon which they may take their musical career to the next level.
About Ms. Ashvini Modak: Ms. Ashvini Modak is a promising talent in the field of Hindustani Classical Music. She has an inborn talent for music from early childhood and studying since the age of five, Ashvini was introduced to music by her mother, talented vocalist Smt. Latika V. Vyaghrambare. Her grandfather Late Shri P. G. Sukhatme was also a stage artist of Marathi theatre. Ashvini ji also has a master’s degree in music from Khairagarh University and diplomas in classical vocals, Hindustani vocals, electrical engineering. Ashvini ji was first tutored by the renowned Sitar maestro Pt. Shri Bimlendu Mukherjee of Imdadkhani Gharana for several years. After this, she became a disciple of renowned vocalist "Padmabhushan" Dr. Prabha Atre and she now belongs to Kirana Gharana.
Apart from being proficient in Khyal gayaki, Ashvini ji has also enthralled the audiences in rendering semi classical forms like Thumri, Dadra and Bhajans. The recipient of many awards and achievements, Ashvini is an expert in Hindustani classical tradition. She is a B High-grade artist of All India Radio (AIR) Pune. She has also selected for empanelment in the “ICCR’s Reference Panel of Artistes”. She has given several performances all over the country and abroad. She is working as a faculty at the Gurukul of Dr. Prabha Atre Foundation. She has participated and conducted various workshops & seminars on semi classical music (Thumri – Dadra) as an instructor along with “Padmabhushan Dr. Prabha Atre” at Goa (organized by Govt. Of Goa).
Her notable performances includes performance at Ustad Abdul Karim Khan Punyatithi Mahotsava - Miraj, Gharana Festival - Delhi, Haridas Sammelan, Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre, Karnataka Sangh, NCPA-Mumbai, Pulotsava, Gaanvardhan,-Pune, Chakradhar Samaroha – Raigarh, TTD – Tirupati, Trafo House Of Music- Hungary Europe, Vedic Heritage - New York. She has performed on stages in India and abroad and has spent many years teaching vocals in the classroom and online.
