Classical Spanish Guitar
Over the course of 15 weeks, Steven Dearing will teach students to advance the art of fingerstyle techniques to allow the student to play Classical and Spanish pieces. When playing with the fingers (instead of a plectrum/pick) the player can strike non-adjacent strings allowing for voicing of chords and playing a melody with a chord, as opposed to only strumming across adjacent strings. This allows for a solo effect, where the player can accompany themselves.

Course Details
During this course, the student will learn about technique, tone production, and how to better their reading skills. Students will also learn techniques that require strings to be tweaked with the hands and fingers, which results in optimized ergonomics and freedom of expression. Students will work with Steven on tone production to discover how the ideal sound can be produced. Students will advance their knowledge of score reading and how to better their sight-reading skills. By learning to read music or notation better, students can broaden their range of musical skills which will ultimately improve their ability to play the instrument. By the end of the course, students will be learning and practising a piece of music until it is performance-ready. This will teach them about expression through dynamics, phrasing, etc.
