The intermediate level comes after the basics. Once the base is set perfectly students can move to the intermediate level. Here you can come through raga structure, thala structure. Starting from Swarajathi's itself small krithi's starts. These are the primary learning practice sessions in Carnatic. After knowing raga's, thala's correctly we can move to varnam level. Lots of varnams are there in Carnatic which has been composed by various composers. History of carnatic music is been included. Varnam is mainly sung at the starting of each concerts. Different speeds are there in varnams.

Course Details

In this intermediate level, students will learn: (1) History of Carnatic music, main composers includes trinities; (2) to practice Akaram, includes swarams has been converted to akarams that will be helpful for signing raga alapana. Plain notes are not used mostly in carnatic. Raga, Bhava, Laya are the concepts to be focused in carnatic. (3) This course includes various swarajathi's set to different raga's & thala's; (4) Introduction to varnams in Carnatic. Varnams are the basics for concert's. Different Aadhi thala varnams in different ragas as like geethams, Ada thala varnams, Pada Varnam, Daru Varnam are there.  Main note is that thalams are the basics to be familiar from the beginner level itself. Through constant practices thalam's will become easy to approach; (5) Small krithis will be added in between for better performances & interest. 6. Next level which leads to the advanced level of Keerthanam's composed by vibrant composers in carnatic music.

Ranjitha Harish is an energetic and devoted Carnatic Vocalist and a Veena player. Her interest in music started at an early stage, where the basics of music were taught by her Aunt Smt. Bhageerathi Hariharan. She received formal training from various gurus named Vid Smt H Rathnaprabha, Smt Rani Vinoth, Smt Saraswathi Srinivasan and Sri Parvatheepuram H.Padmanabha Iyer Sir. She had been awarded various accolades in state and national level competitions & also from Neelakanta Sivan Sangeeta Sabha trust. She has performed various genres of Carnatic Music in Thyagaraja Aradhana Festivals (Nagercoil & Trivandrum), Chembai Music festival (Guruvayoor) and Navaratri Mandapam (Thiruvananthapuram) as a small concert. Besides her training in Carnatic vocal, she has also gained training in playing musical instruments such as Violin and Veena under the guidance of Veena Vidushi Smt N. Lalitha Mahadevan teacher and Smt. Kala Raju.

Apart from her passion for music, she is a software developer by profession. She has hosted a website related to music which provides a platform for young upcoming musicians, music composers and artists to upload their recorded songs in different genres. This is a big opportunity for music lovers where they can listen to different genres in music to expand their knowledge to the next level, where it will help the next generation to know about the roots of the music and to embrace the different manifestations and ethos of our culture through our music. She is currently preparing for AIR B high grade in Carnatic vocal. Ranjitha is continuing her passion by giving Facebook live concerts recently. She was taking music classes for school students for the past 5+ years. Preparing them for competitions & individual performances also. Nowadays, lots of opportunities are open to exploring music. It will be helpful for musicians like her & students too.

Ranjitha is an energetic Carnatic musician, lover and trainer. She has 15+ years of teaching experience in Carnatic music. She has a unique style of practising from basics to advanced for voice modification, theoretical concepts of music, practising gamaka’s, raga alapana's for better performances & perform even in small programs & concerts. She had thought of sharing her experiences & knowledge with the upcoming generation of young aspirants & geniuses. According to her, for each & every genre, the base is everything. Sruthi matha & Laya pitha means when sruthi & thala merges, every krithi will be soothing. Recently, she also had done 2 Facebook live concerts and recordings too. She has performed in various programs from a very younger age. She is supporting everyone for their better performances.

Prerequites

Mainly students should be aware of swara structure. Places of notes are there. Through constant practices only thalam & swara's will get fixed. Base will be created at the beginning level itself. FAQs

Question
How much time should a student enrolling for this course practice everyday?
Answer
This course will require practice time outside of lessons. Time spent practicing may vary from 15 minutes per day to an hour, depending on a student’s level of interest. Students who wish to become professional musicians will need more hours of practice per day using a different set of exercises and materials than students who are seeking to learn music as a hobby. Detailed structure of practice for each student will be discussed and explained during class.
Question
What if a student is unable to attend an upcoming class?
Answer
The student is required to inform the teacher about his absence from a particular session, two days prior to the class. In such a case, the teacher will reschedule the class and conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student. In case the student misses to give two days prior notice about his absence to the teacher, then the decision to conduct another class for that student is completely based on the teacher’s discretion.
Question
What if the teacher wishes to reschedule a class?
Answer
In case the teacher is unavailable for the scheduled class, he/she will inform the students two days prior to the class. The teacher will conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student.
Question
How long will the teacher take to revert to a query raised after class hours?
Answer
Students should get a response within 24 hours if the teacher is not preoccupied or traveling.
