Music Theory for Beginners | Trinity College of Music | Grade 1
Build a strong foundation in music theory in this short-term course from an expert performer and educator, Jason Quadros. Students will learn basic skills in notation, rhythm, composition, and analysis over the course of 12 weeks. Perfect for any beginner in music, this course works with the curriculum for year one music theory from Trinity College of Music, London. At the successful completion of the course, students will have an introductory understanding of music theory.
This course for beginners covers the basics of music theory, teaching students the skills needed to advance their interest in music. Lessons begin with learning rudimentary Western musical notation—including note and rest types and groups—and major scales in different keys. Students will also learn about accidentals, intervals, arpeggios, ostinato, musical vocabulary and symbols, circle of 5ths, and answering a given rhythm. The course will conclude with learning analysis of simple musical pieces, rounding out a fundamental music education. These concepts will be taught in a live online learning environment from an expert musician and educator, Jason Quadros.

About Jason Quadros: Jason Quadros is an expert performer and educator with over a decade of experience and seeks to bring that experience to each of his lessons. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from St. Xavier’s College, Goa and a diploma from the School of Audio Engineering, Chennai, making him an excellent online educator. In addition, he studied keyboard, piano, and music theory at Trinity College of Music, London, and won the Hannam Clarke Award for highest marks. Mr. Quadros has been teaching music for over eight years and is committed to providing an education to each of his students in a way that can be efficiently digested.
