Course Details

Students taking this course will receive 1-on-1 instruction from Carlos Caminos for 60 minutes each week for 36 weeks. Each student will receive unique, individualized instruction based upon their specific music learning needs.  Students will learn to play rhythms using a pick or even fingerpicking.  Students will learn simple scales to move up and down the fretboard: playing with patterns on the guitar.  Carlos will assess each student's current level and help them learn to play their favorite songs.

Students will learn the first chords i.e. putting the notes together, playing Arpeggios - right-hand technique, learn to improvise with scales: the game of speaking with musical notes.  Carlos will also help students compare different types of music - Classical Music, Blues, Folk, Jazz.  By end on this course, Carlos will help students make their own song: by helping them combine the different chord structures and scales.

FAQs

Question
How do I learn to the music I listen to?
Answer
The building blocks of music are simple and are not unique to one genre. As you learn your first scales and chords and learn to play them with a beat or rhythm, you will find that the songs/music you love are made with similar ingredients. After learning your first song and PRACTICING, you will find it easier to learn new material.
Question
How much time should a student enrolling for this course practice everyday?
Answer
This course will require practice time outside of lessons. Time spent practicing may vary from 15 to 30 minutes per day, depending on a student’s level of interest. Students who wish to become professional musicians will need more hours of practice per day using a different set of exercises and materials than students who are seeking to learn music as a hobby. A detailed structure of practice for each student will be discussed and explained during the classes.
Question
What if a student is unable to attend an upcoming class?
Answer
The student is required to inform the teacher about his absence from a particular session, two days prior to the class. In such a case, the teacher will reschedule the class and conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student. In case the student misses to give two days prior notice about his absence to the teacher, then the decision to conduct another class for that student is completely based on teacher’s discretion.
Question
What if the teacher wishes to reschedule a class?
Answer
In case the teacher is unavailable for the scheduled class, he/she will inform the students two days prior to the class. The teacher will conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student.
Question
How long will the teacher take to revert to a query raised after class hours?
Answer
Students should get a response within 24 hours if the teacher is not preoccupied or traveling.
