Your instructor, Lakshmi Rohit will be incorporating dance steps from popular dance genres like Indian classical dance, Indian folk dance, western classical dance, and more into this course and will help you in performing one beautiful choreography. This course, taught by dancer and coach Lakshmi Rohit, introduces beginners to Bollywood Fusion dance, its meaning, and the precise movements involved in its style. Students begin by learning the meaning behind Bollywood dance and its three basic elements: Body posture, movement, and expressions. Students also learn the meanings behind the different types of movements. Lakshmi leads her troupe of beginner students through the different techniques, movement styles, and expression basics that are associated with Bollywood dance, and the meanings of various terms and concepts so that each student has a true understanding of the dance form. She also leads the enrolled students in basic physical exercises, hook-steps, and poses before moving on to learning different sets of steps in Bollywood dance and its association with dance forms like Indian classical dance, Indian folk dance, and western classical dance.
After the successful completion of this course, students will be able to perform a whole song with dance steps on their own as they will be taught the choreography by the instructor in the last few weeks. This course is up to 8 weeks and can be extended longer but ultimately, the course length depends on the particular progress and comfort of the student. Additionally, a thorough study of dance such as this course builds strength, confidence, and depth of expression that can enhance many areas of life. This course requires regular physical practice and weekly face-to-face sessions with the teacher.
About the teacher: The instructor for your course is Lakshmi Rohit. She started dancing at the age of 4 years. Since then, her dance journey started with learning the Indian classical dance form Bharatanatyam. She then moved on to acquire a Master's Diploma in the same along with simultaneously learning various other dance forms. Her love for Bollywood dance and all dance forms that fall under fusion stayed and that’s how she started incorporating various dance forms into one and started creating Bollywood choreographies. She started teaching and choreographing from the age of 13 -14 yrs and has never stopped since then. Lakshmi soon became so successful that she has appeared on Television showcasing her dance recital numerous times. She had also been invited to judge various dance competitions during her tenure in Dubai. Currently, she teaches students offline /online in private and group sessions. She also choreographs for Youtube channels, wedding events, corporate events, and also competitions. Apart from dance, Lakshmi also holds an MBA degree in Finance and had been working in corporate Sector for around seven years. However now, dance is her full-time career and she thoroughly enjoys it.
