Course Details
This course has been framed to provide ample time for students to grasp the intricacies required to sketch the different features that go on to make a perfect portrait. This course has been divided into sections for easy understanding and convenient application of all that is taught by the teacher.
The first and second section deals with the introduction to the topic of sketching of human portrait. The teacher here will provide inputs about the stationery, such as the grade of the pencil to be used, the type of eraser recommended, the kind of paper to use to draw the portrait and achieve desired results. The exact ways of holding the pencil and the techniques of applying pressure to get varied tones, like dark and light. Points to observe before starting to sketch, like the placements, empty space and the position to begin. Students in this section will learn to draw or sketch the eyes. Students will be guided on how to sketch the contours of the eyes, considering the depth, the sclera or the white part of the eye, requiring minimal shading, the iris and the techniques of shading that make it look real.
Further on in the next section, the teacher will teach students the techniques of sketching the nose, ears and mouth. This section will introduce students to the idea of observing the features such as the nose which is multidimensional and the techniques to bring that effect in the sketch. It will teach students the technique to draw the ears, the contours within and shading to exhibit the outlining of the ears. Students will learn to draw the jaw line that defines a human face and the mouth or lips, with an understanding about the shading and glazing effect that makes the lip look thick or thin, dark or light. Once done, with all the features that constitute a face, the teacher will teach students on how to give the final touches to the portrait to complete the portrait. The final touches on the portrait will emphasise on the shading and glazing techniques using the pencil.
