"From the first lesson, my experience with Ellie was absolutely transformative!  Freeing up my singing self frees up many other parts of me as well. I am thrilled with the work!" - Joan Piasecki, adult voice student

"Not only has my daughter learned to sing but also to read and understand music. I recommend Ellie to anyone who loves to sing; she is gracious and caring for her pupils while providing an environment that fosters advancement for the very serious student." - R. Batenburg, proud parent

"My daughter, Alexzandria, has always loved to sing, but never had the confidence to allow her voice to be heard.  Over the last year with Ellie, I have seen Alex's self confidence rise and her voice become stronger and more beautiful.  She sings in front of others, loves to perform, and is pursuing a career choice in singing and theatre.  Ellie is a wonderful teacher and role model, and we are very lucky to have found her."  -Laurie Rust, proud parent

FAQs

Question
Do I need to be able to read music?
Answer
No, while the ability to read music makes it easier to learn songs, one does not need to be able to read in order to produce beautiful singing!
Question
Do I need to be able to match pitch?
Answer
Yes. While one can certainly develop healthy singing habits without singing in tune, accurate intonation is a cornerstone of quality singing, and it is difficult to progress without this foundation.
Question
Do I need to purchase sheet music?
Answer
If you plan to sing specific songs during the course, it is recommended that you own sheet music for those songs. However, you may purchase sheet music on an as-needed basis, as you and/or your teacher select repertoire appropriate for your voice type and experience.
Question
How much time should a student enrolling for this course practice everyday?
Answer
This course will require practice time outside of lessons. Time spent practicing may vary from 15 minutes per day to an hour, depending on a student’s level of interest. Students who wish to become professional musicians will need more hours of practice per day using a different set of exercises and materials than students who are seeking to learn music as a hobby. Detailed structure of practice for each student will be discussed and explained during class.
Question
What if a student is unable to attend an upcoming class?
Answer
The student is required to inform the teacher about his absence from a particular session, two days prior to the class. In such a case, the teacher will reschedule the class and conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student. In case the student misses to give two days prior notice about his absence to the teacher, then the decision to conduct another class for that student is completely based on teacher’s discretion.
Question
What if the teacher wishes to reschedule a class?
Answer
In case the teacher is unavailable for the scheduled class, he/she will inform the students two days prior to the class. The teacher will conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student.
Question
How long will the teacher take to revert to a query raised after class hours?
Answer
Students should get a response within 24 hours if the teacher is not preoccupied or travelling.
