This course will cover a range of voice lessons to ensure each student can sing harmoniously with the Tanpura. Instructor Kuber will impart the concept of Taal (rhythm) as she guides students through the process of developing correct voice usage and practical techniques. Students will also learn a myriad of brandishes (compositions), Ragas, along with elaboration techniques for both. Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will become familiar with many popular Brandishes and will enjoy a refined vocal technique that will leave them well-prepared to pursue an advanced Hindustani classical vocal course. Led by established artist Anuradha Kuber, enrollees will also reap the benefit of working one-on-one with someone who has a proven track record of success in the current music industry.
ABOUT THE TEACHER: Anuradha Kuber is a renowned vocalist of the Bhendi Bazar Gharana. She trained for 15 years under the veteran musician Guru Pt. T.D. Janorikar, a foremost exponent of the Gharana. While a proficient musician of her own right, Kuber continues her education with musicologist Dr. Arawind Thatte. Kuber has performed in many major Indian cities including many music organization events and music festivals. Recipient of the Gaanhira award, Sur Mani award, Manik Varma award, among others, Kuber’s musical talent has come to be known by a vast audience through her performances and many CDs. Today, Kuber ensures the continuation of this time-honored tradition by teaching the musicians of the next generation the beauty of Hindustani classical music.
