The students will learn basic characteristics of 10 Thaats and how the raagas are derived or born from Thaats. The students will also learn to make Vistaar, different types of Sargams and Taans, and Tehais in a Raaga, basic hindustani Taal system with knowledge of Theka, bol etc. They also learn various types of Bandishes (compositions) and how to perform on stage(basic).

This is an online Hindustani vocal course for intermediate and professional-level students, and it takes place in weekly 45-minute sessions for 30 weeks. In this online course of 45 minutes weekly over 30 weeks, students will learn and practice Thaat and its classification, Raagas born from 10 Thaats, Raagas with Bandishes in different Taals. Students will specifically learn Taals such as Teentaal (16 Beats), Rupaktaal (7 Beats), Jhaptaal (10 Beats) and Ektaal (12 Beats). In this course, students will also be taught how to perform the Raagas.
About the Teacher: Arindam Bhattacharyya learned music from his father who is the legendary Tabla maestro of Lucknow, Gharana Pandit Swaraj Bhattacharyya. An extremely diligent student of guru Pandit Ranjan Mukherjee, he is a renowned musician, vocalist, and composer possessing a very rare background in Talim, in the tradition of Kotali Gharana and Patiala Gharana. Arindam has received many awards, including Gold medal from Rabindra Bharati University; Nirod Baron Memorial Prize by R.B.U.; Sangitacharya Girijashankar Chakraborty Prize by R.B.U.; Acharya Uday Bhusan Bhattacharya Smrity Puraskar by R.B.U.; National Scholarship by Ministry of Tourism and Culture; Bijon Ghosh Dostidar Gold Medal by R.B.U., Govt. of India; National Scholarship by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India; Divisional Railway Manager’s Award as a coordinator of Divisional Cultural Association and more. He is an ‘A’ Grade Artist of All India Radio (Kolkata) and Doordarshan (Kolkata) and has performed throughout India and further abroad.
