This is an online Hindustani vocal course for beginners that takes place in weekly 45-minute sessions over a duration of 30 weeks.. This course is a step by step guide to learn Hindustani Swara system and introductions of Raaga. In this course, students will learn to recognize the 'Swara' or musical notes in an octave in respect of the 'Sa' (the first note of an octave) as per their Scale. Students will also learn scale names as per western music to determine their own scale. They will learn how to make Palta (combinations of 'Swaras'), Meerkhand (old school practice of Indian Scales), etc. They also learn Hindustani 'THAAT' (for classification of 'Raaga') system and 'CHOTA KHAYAL' in those Raga which is related to the Thaat.

In this online course of weekly 45 minutes over 30 weeks, students will learn and practice Swara/notes in various methods. The students will get an introduction of Hindustani Raaga system, 10 Thaat of Hindustani Classical music, learn the basic Thaat Raagas originates from 10 Thaats. Further, the students will also learn scale names as per western music to determine their own scale. The students will learn about Taal-Teentaal (16 beats), Ektaal (12 beats), Vistar, Sargam, Taan & Tehai of those Raaga. Most importantly the students will learn to perform those Raagas as per the method or 'Silsila' to perform 'Khayal' style.
About the Teacher: Arindam Bhattacharyya learned music from his father who is the legendary tabla maestro of Lucknow, Gharana Pandit Swaraj Bhattacharyya. An extremely diligent student of guru Pandit Ranjan Mukherjee, he is a renowned musician, vocalist, and composer possessing a very rare background in Talim, in the tradition of Kotali Gharana and Patiala Gharana. Arindam has received many awards, including Gold Medalist from Rabindra Bharati University; Nirod Baron Memorial Prize by R.B.U.; Sangitacharya Girijashankar Chakraborty Prize by R.B.U.; Acharya Uday Bhusan Bhattacharya Smrity Puraskar by R.B.U.; National Scholarship by Ministry of Tourism and Culture; Bijon Ghosh Dostidar Gold Medal by R.B.U., Govt. of India; National Scholarship by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India; Divisional Railway Manager’s Award as a coordinator of Divisional Cultural Association and more. He is an ‘A’ Grade Artist of All India Radio (Kolkata) and Doordarshan (Kolkata) and has performed throughout India and further abroad.
