About the Teacher: A child prodigy, Nabo Parna, began her musical journey at 4. Her first guru was her mother who was an exponent of the Lucknow Gharana. After which she took lessons from the disciple of Pt. Niharranjan Bandhyapadhaya from the Vishnupur Gharana.
She mastered the Bengal music genre ‘Nazrul Geeti’ under the tutelage of the disciple of Angur Bala Devi (disciple of renowned Kazi Nazrul Islam Ji). She has learned under Smt Saha (disciple of Bidushi Shipra Bose and Biman Mukhopadhyay).
She has expertise in ‘Light Music’ too (learned under the tutelage of the disciple of Charlton Kitto). She has also sought guidance from renowned music director Kolyan Sen Barat. An avid learner Nabo Parna continues to learn North Indian Classical Music under the guidance of renowned Dr. Arun Kashalkar of the Agra Gharana.
An artist at (AIR), Nabo Parna has been an active T.V and public performer. She has performed with legends like Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Begum Parvin Sultana, Smt Jaya Biswas, and Smt Shipra Bose.
Nabo Parna has performed at the Kolkata Raj Bhavan (Governor’s house). She has been honored with the ‘Achiever’s Award’ for the classical singer category, by the Kalakar Foundation, Delhi.
She was also invited to perform in a live concert at the Google office (USA). She has also been interviewed live on Radio Zindagi 15.50 SFO (USA). She has authored a book 'Raga Vichitra- Meditation for Soul', to guide beginners of Hindustani classical music. She has dedicated herself to grooming music enthusiasts (already guided several students across India and the USA).
