Take Your Hindustani Vocals Journey to the Next Level

After completing the fundamental levels as you embark on to the next level of your musical journey, some exercises remain constant. They are -

• Breathing exercise - OM recitation
• Perfecting the Swaras - Singing each note at its correct frequency and sustaining your voice over it.
• All the vocal exercises that you learned in the Beginner’s course.

Building on the basics as mentioned above, in this course the voice training becomes more rigorous with the following topics -

• Swaras in Aakar - This exercise develops your musical acumen as you sing the note without taking its name. It is challenging in the initial stages to hit the right note in Aakar and it takes time to reach perfection.
• Alankaars in Aakar - After you learn to render the notes individually in Aakar, you will learn to sing simple melodic patterns in Aakar. 
• Ragas - Basic structure and bandishes of the Ragas - Yaman, Desh, Bageshri, Bhimpalasi, Khamaj, Kaafi, Asavari, Jaunpuri, Bihag, Durga, Bhopali etc
• Introduction of the Taal - You will learn to sing the Ragas maintaining the rhythm and tempo. You will learn from which beat you should start singing and how you conclude it. Rhythm and tempo are as important as the knowledge of the swaras. These have to be perfected with equal dedication.
• Depending on the calibre of the students further detailings of the Ragas will be introduced. These include - alaap taan, vistaar, taan in different Matras, etc.

About the Teacher: An Indian Classical Vocalist, Pratiksha Vashishtha is a playback singer and a live performer. She works as an Independent Artist and has also collaborated with several reputed music labels in India. 

Pratiksha holds a Double Graduate and a Post Graduate degree in Hindustani Classical Music. She has been singing and learning music since the age of 7. She even helps students appear for the Gandharv Mahavidyalay Exam. She wishes to dedicate herself to imparting her knowledge to learners through ipassio.
