A Khyal paints a brief yet effective outline of a Raga's melody. It encapsulates the character of the Raga. Khyal Gayaki is a creative process. This course will give students a profound understanding of the concept of Khyal and Raga in Hindustani Classical Vocals. The students will learn the following-
- What is Khyal and its types
- How to present a Khyal in a performance
- Different compositions of different Ragas and the potentiality to perform these bandishes/compositions
- The structure of a Raga performance and its different elements, such as Aalap, Taan, Sargam, Bol-Baant etc
About the Teacher: Shruti Bujarbaruah is a mesmerizing Hindustani Classical Vocalist who has been enthralling audiences since a very young age. Her love for music was instilled in her by her parents at the tender age of 4, and ever since then, she has been honing her craft with unwavering dedication and passion. Under the tutelage of eminent gurus, Pt. Vijay Koparkar and Vidushi Pratima Tilak, Shruti has mastered the art of Hindustani classical music.
A distinguished alumna of SNDT University, Mumbai, Shruti has completed her 'Master's in Music' with flying colours. Furthermore, she has also been bestowed with the coveted 'Sangeet Alankar/ Sangeet Nipun' title from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow, which stands as a testament to her exceptional talent and unparalleled expertise in the field of Hindustani classical music.
With a teaching experience of over 10 years, Shruti has been instrumental in nurturing the next generation of Hindustani classical music enthusiasts. Her exceptional skills and teaching methodologies have been acknowledged and celebrated with numerous prestigious awards, including the 'Scholarship to young musicians' by the Ministry of Culture, Govt.
