About the Course

Your instructor for the course, Monica Schwartz will begin this course with lessons on bassoon anatomy and handling including anatomy, cleanliness, reed care, proper assembly and storage. Once students are confident with their instruments, the course will progress to include playing techniques, embouchure, fingering, pitch and vibrato. Learners will then begin to explore and practice the F and Bb scales. Instructor Schwartz will guide students through practice and impart proper practice techniques to ensure the success of each learner. Students who successfully complete this course can expect to play beginner songs including “In the Hall of the Mountain King”, and will be prepared to play solo or as part of an ensemble.

As a beginners course, there are no required prerequisites before enrollment. The required learning materials will be provided, however each student will need an instrument of their own and pen and paper for taking notes.
