Q: What if a student is unable to attend an upcoming class?

The student must inform the teacher about their absence from a particular session two days before the class. In such a case, the teacher will reschedule the class and conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student. If the student misses to give two days prior notice about their absence to the teacher, then the decision to conduct another class for that student is wholly based on the teacher’s discretion.

Q: What if the teacher wishes to reschedule a class?

Q: How long will the teacher take to revert to a query raised after class hours?

The teacher will try to revert to queries raised after class hours within 24 hours

Q: How much time should a student enrolling for this course practice every day?

Students should practice for a minimum of 30 minutes every day. If they can devote more time to practice, they will learn better and faster.

Course Summary

Kathak is one of the most graceful traditional dance forms in India. After learning the basic footwork, hand gestures, and body movements in the beginner's course, it is time to step up your potential with more complex concepts.

This course is for learners training in Kathak for at least 3 months. It includes learning Kathak dance compositions, rhythms, and the theories behind each step. The students will have a holistic learning experience and gain confidence in their abilities as Kathak dancers.

About the Teacher

With 13 years of experience, Ms Shruti Patki trained in the Banaras and Lucknow Gharana styles for 19 years under reputed Kathak Danseuse & Guru Mrs Shambhavi Dandekar and Guru Pta. Maneesha Sathe from Pune.

Currently, she is learning the Jaipur Gharana style under Pt. Rajendra Gangani Ji. Training for the past 22 years, she is also a visiting Faculty at Lalit Kala Kendra (Gurukul) Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Shruti was presented with the Navonmesh Nritya Sadhana Puraskar by Dr Sujata Natu and Ganawardhan in July 2019. She has also won a variety of district, state, and national competitions.

Shruti was awarded the Rabindra Puraskar in 2015 and received the Gold Medal in Masters in Performing Arts Kathak, 2014. She has also secured the First Rank all over India in the postgraduate level Nritya Alankar examination conducted by Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai, in 2012.
