A 30-minute lesson once a week by Zoom or Skype. One hour and 45-minute lessons are also available. I customize the course to fit the students interest and level. The method book I use with most students is Faber. The method book provides a good background and takes the student through the process of learning the piano in a clear and organized way. It's important for a student to play piano music that they like to help keep their interest. I work with the each student to find piano pieces that are both fun and interesting. Classical, popular and jazz styles of the piano will be covered. Depending on what directing a students wants to go in, an emphasis will be placed on either classical, jazz, blues or popular music. This class is open to all levels and age 5 through adult.

About the Instructor: Jim Fox is a well-known pianist in the Brentwood and South Nashville area, boasting over 30 years of performing and teaching experience. His interest in piano began around the age of 10 when he first began playing. He followed through with this passion, playing in many high school bands and eventually studying music and piano performance at California State University Los Angeles, where he earned a BA degree.

After college Jim played in many LA-based bands, including WAR. After relocating to Santa Rosa, he and his brother Jerry began playing as part of rock band Boys Night Out. Jim currently lives in Nashville, TN and performs in the instrumental group the Jim Fox Trio, playing a mix of jazz, latin, progressive jazz, blues and popular music. The band have been playing together for over 30 years and performing on the Nashville circuit for over 10 years at various venues.

The ipassio Edge

Students enrolling for this course on ipassio can be sure that they receive individual attention from the teacher, as the class strength is limited to 1 or 2 students. It also gives teachers the opportunity, to gauge their student's progress in-depth and make changes whenever and wherever required, to ensure the student gets the maximum out of this course. Since this course is detailed, students get the advantage of learning intricate details about Mallet Instruments. The limited strength of the class also ensures that there is a strong bond between the students and their teacher clearing out any inhibitions that the student might have. The sustained guidance available from the teacher ensures that the student does not deviate from set goals or targets. Learning from a revered, experienced exponent of Mallet Instruments, through the long duration of this course, keeps the student inspired and motivated to achieve more.
