Course Details

Students taking this course will receive one-on-one instruction with Crystal Stark for 60 minutes each week. We will focus on finding the perfect repertoire for your voice and work towards fine-tuning your individual vocal style. Each lesson will include physical stretching, guided breathing techniques, specialized vocal warm-ups, and focused repertoire work.  This course will also focus on preparing you to be performance ready. You will work on posture, stage presence, how to speak to a judge or an audience, how to move on stage, performance attire, and much more! There are a lot of things to think about when preparing to sing in front of an audience. This course will help you to be confident as a vocalist and as a performer.

About the Instructor: Instructor Crystal Stark is well known as an American Idol semi-finalist and internationally performing singer. She began her singing career in Tucson, Arizona, her home town. Some of her first singing teachers included a legend in the Jazz world, Jeff Haskell and Faye Robinson, a famous soprano. Crystal graduated from the University of Arizona as Magna Cum Laude, with her degree in Music Education.  In 2006, Crystal auditioned for Season 5 of American Idol and made it to the top 44. Even though she did not make the finals of American Idol she and fellow contestant, season runner-up Katharine McPhee, became very good friends. Crystal later joined as a backup singer for Katharine’s national tour.

Crystal later won the Best of Show at Gospel Music Association’s Music in the Rockies and Adult Contemporary Vocalist competition. After winning this, she was personally invited to perform at Night of Joy at Disney World’s Christian-themed music celebration. During her time touring with Katharine, Crystal appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Tonight Show, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Regis & Kelly to name a few. Crystal is also the Director of General Music, Band & Choir at Vail, Arizonas Esmond Station K-8 school.
