About the Course

This course has 6 progressive levels. It is designed to create a strong foundation for students in piano and music theory. The teacher for this course is a Grade 8 level achiever, the highest level in music awarded by Trinity College London. Her grade also certifies her to impart the knowledge she has gained pursuing piano and music theory.

The highlights of the course are as follows -

  • This course will commence by teaching Western music basics and theory. The students will learn about rhythm, which is a combination of beats played at different speeds also referred to as tempo in a musical piece.
  • Next up, the teacher will teach students about dynamics which is basically the expression of music, which could represent excitement, joy, sorrow, articulation, and other factors in a musical piece.
  • Further on students get introduced and briefed about melody which relates to the pitch, meaning the characteristics relating to the tone that defines high or low notes, in other words, the loudness or softness in a song or tune.
  • Moving ahead in this course, the students will get introduced to harmony which relates to the different notes played simultaneously in patterns to create a pleasing sound. They will learn about texture in music and the different styles of music.
  • This course that adheres to the ABRSM and Trinity standard of music education will, through the span of the entire program, teach students navigating the piano, read classical notes, and the finger techniques required to play the piano. The students will receive complete guidance to prepare and appear for the ABRSM or Trinity certification tests or exams.
  • Students will also be taught about terminologies used to identify the different elements in a musical piece such as scales, chords, and arpeggios; notes of chords played in rapid succession. They will also get trained on 5 finger patterns for playing the piano. Finally, at the culmination of this course, students will be able to play fairly advanced music by contemporary composers like Elvis, as well as classical composers like Beethoven and Mozart.
