About the Teacher
Dr. Neeta Pandey Negi is part of a Jugalbandi comprised of herself and her sister, Dr. Jagriti. Together, they perform Sufiyana Qalams, Qawwali, Kaafi as well as Ghazals, all in traditional style. After achieving her doctorate in Sufi Music from Delhi University, Dr. Neeta Pandey Negi devoted her professional and personal career to spreading the message of the Sufi saints. She has learned Indian Classical Music from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and from Smt. Ketaki Banerjee of Kirana Gharana, Ghazal Gayaiki from Smt. Charanjeet Soni. She is currently learning Sufiyana Gayaki under the guidance of her guru Ustaad Iqbaal Ahmed Khan, Khalifa of Dilli Gharana.
“Perfectionism is the key to success for me,” says Dr. Negi. She specializes in recognizing a disciple's inner strengths and weaknesses and customizes her teaching methodology accordingly. Nothing is fixed as far as the curriculum is concerned.
