Deep Dive into Bollywood Singing

Students will explore the following concepts throughout the course:

• Explore the unique charm of Bollywood songs with complex melodies, understanding their emotional depth and impact on listeners.
• Break down the concept of Harkat, unravelling its significance in adding flair and creativity to your singing.
• Practice exercises focused on mastering runs, trills, and ornamentation, allowing you to navigate complex melodic passages effortlessly.
• Deepen your understanding of vocal dynamics, learning how to emphasize certain phrases, control volume, and create captivating variations.
• Implement techniques to transition between soft and powerful vocal expressions, enriching your song interpretations.
• Recognize the pivotal role of pronunciation in conveying the essence of Bollywood songs.
• Refine your pronunciation of lyrics, paying attention to enunciation, diction, and articulation, ensuring every word resonates clearly.
• Collaborate with the instructor to choose a song that aligns with your vocal strengths and challenges.
• Apply the techniques learned to your chosen song, adapting them to the unique nuances of its melody and emotions.

About the Teacher: Mugdha Hasabnis has an impressive experience of over 12 years of vocal training in Hindustani Classical music. She is certified with Upantya Visharad level in Opera (Western classical singing) at KM Music Conservatory (Chennai). 

She has a professional performance experience of over 13 years as a playback singer and performer. She has sung in various Indian languages including Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Gujarati. 

Mugdha has performed in an internationally televised Indian singing show. She has worked with prominent composers and has recorded vocals for film and non-film music. Mugdha has a professional teaching experience of over 10 years as a music teacher specialising in Hindustani classical, Light and Playback music. 

She has been titled 'The Best Playback Singer - Female' by the Maharashtra State Government of India for “Kalokhaacha Rang” from the Marathi film “Ubuntu” (2017) and 'The Best Singer - Female (Non-Film)' by 'Kannada International Music Awards for “Endu Mugiyada” from the Kannada album “2way” (2013). She has also been in the top 14 finalists in an internationally televised Indian singing reality show – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (2010).
