Intermediate Level Carnatic Music will cover all essential intermediate topics including raga and tala classification, musical forms, practical theory and more. Arun Subramaniam, called Arun by his students, is a well-established musician and educator with the passion and practice necessary to create dynamic, interesting and challenging lesson plans. Arun will be available to teach one-on-one to students during weekly 45 minute online courses to ensure each student is developing their skill in a timely and professional manner. ABOUT THE TEACHER: O.S. 'Arun' Vaidyanathan is a renowned musician well-known for his sonorous voice and superior stagemanship. He inherited his love for music from his father and began his training at a very early age. Arun finished in the top of the Sangeetha Shironmani diploma course in Carnatic music conducted by the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts at Delhi University. The wide repertoire of music he has produced has earned Arun a keen following of musicians and fans. Today, Arun serves his community as an educator in the tradition of Carnatic music, as well as working closely with a choir he established that celebrates the traditional grammar of Carnatic music through their highly attended performances.

Prerequites

How much time should a student enrolling for this course practice everyday?
Answer
Students should practice a minimum of 30 minutes every day. If they can devote more time to practice, they will learn better and faster.

What if a student is unable to attend an upcoming class?
Answer
The student is required to inform the teacher about his absence from a particular session, two days prior to the class. In such a case, the teacher will reschedule the class and conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student. In case the student misses to give two days prior notice about his absence to the teacher, then the decision to conduct another class for that student is completely based on teacher’s discretion.

What if the teacher wishes to reschedule a class?
Answer
In case the teacher is unavailable for the scheduled class, he/she will inform the students two days prior to the class. The teacher will conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student.

The teacher will try to revert back to queries raised after class hours within a 24 hour period.
