About the Course
Along with the revision of the basics of Carnatic music, the following concepts will be covered:
- Sruti– Recognizing the patterns of Carnatic music before performing them. Sruti refers to the ability to listen and identify the changes in pitch, Swara, and tala.
- Sarali Varisai - Ability to recognize and get the feel of Swara, Melody, and Rhythm.
- Janta Varisai - Progression to the Sarali Varisai. Once you are familiar with Sruti and Swaras, you can perform them with awareness. You will learn Swara transition in Janta Varisai.
- Gamakas - It is the variation of swaras that are used to beautify any song. Gamkas enhance the melody of the composition and adds life to the musical scale.
About the Teacher: Madhura’s family has been involved in Carnatic Music and Sampradhaya Bhajans, for several generations. They have performed many concerts and Namasankirtan in various places. Because of this Madhura Subramanian was introduced to music early and has been singing from a young age.
Madhura learnt Carnatic Music from Neyveli Vidwan Dr Shankar and D.K Somasundaram Iyer and has done many performances in and around Tamil Nadu. She started her teaching career in Carnatic vocal (Professional, Slokhas, Vishnu Sahasranamam, Thirupavai, Pancharatna Kritis) and Sampradhaya Bhajans (Professional, Marathi Abhanghs) in 2014. She is passionate about music and aspires to teach people who are interested and willing to take music soulfully.
