Students with basic knowledge about music and guitar are eligible for this course. This course covers guitar lessons for intermediate players. This course will cover advanced motor exercise, dexterity and finger independence exercises. Classes on Chords – Suspended Chords (Sus2, sus4), 5th (Power) Chords, Added Ninth 9th and 11th Chords, Major Sixth (Maj6) and Minor Sixth Chords (min6); Scales – Harmonic & Melodic minor scales. Modes- Modes in various keys, improvising; Arpeggios – 3 string, 4 string & 6 string will all be part of the advanced level course.

Students will be given an introduction to harmonics and will be trained on hammer-on, pull-off techniques, slides, blues and rock guitar licks. They will be provided with ample opportunity to practise advanced rhythms, soloing, playing songs or cover versions using advanced chords, as well as the opportunity to master the fretboard, neck, economy picking and sweep picking. Which type of guitar is more suited for this course, electrical or acoustic?
In order to learn rock guitar solos, it is essential to learn these pieces on an electric guitar, barring a few songs that may have been written to be performed on an acoustic guitar. The feel & playing discipline on an electric guitar is different from that of an acoustic guitar. On an electric guitar, whatever you play gets amplified, if you happen to touch unwanted open strings that would also get amplified. Hence it is essential to learn on an electric guitar, if you choose to play rock style of genres.
How much time does the student need to practice?
Students are advised to practice 30 - 45 minutes everyday.
Would students get any additional course material apart from the live sessions?
Yes, students will be provided, audio samples, recorded session of the training so that they can recollect and practice.
Will there be any assessments?
Yes, there will be periodical assessments based on the lessons taught.
Can this course be customized?
Yes, this course for intermediate students who have prior knowledge about guitar and music, can be customized. The customization will be on teacher’s discretion after taking into account the student’s ability or skill level.
What if the student cannot attend an upcoming class?
The student is required to inform the teacher about his absence from a particular session, one day (24 hours) prior to the class. If the information about the student being absent from a session is conveyed one day prior to the class, the teacher will then reschedule the class and conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student. In case, the student misses to give prior notice about his absence to the teacher, the decision to reschedule the class is completely based on teacher’s discretion.
What if the teacher wishes to reschedule a class?
In case the teacher is unavailable for the scheduled class, he/she will inform the students one day (24 hours) prior to the class. The teacher will conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student.
What specific capabilities will the student achieve in terms of playing the guitar after completing this course?
Students after completing this course will have the technical ability to play in or for a band and would be confident about lead guitar techniques and improvisations.
