For beginners, you may buy a second hand guitar for you to learn playing the basics. Start with learning the finger position to play Em or pronounced as E minor, which is one of the most basic chords. Next step is to learn how to hold the guitar and basic strumming. Follow this by learning to play the chord D major. Students need to learn basic music theory in order to be able to read music notations. With proper guidance from a teacher, students can learn the techniques of soloing or lead. For many acoustic guitar beginners, chord changes and progressions are the next logical stage to cover. Though there are several free youtube videos available, nothing can give you the right guidance as much as step-by-step private lessons.

Two major types of guitars are acoustic and electric. These are usually the ones everyone is accustomed to. The guitar itself is different for acoustic and electric. ELectric guitars. Electric guitar is the heart of rock and roll, and require power chords, power riffs, etc. Acoustic guitar is the one everyone usually starts off with. It does not compulsorily require external power to play it. Some of the other styles of guitar playing include Blues guitar, jazz guitar, country guitar and R&B. Playing styles are very subjective to the guitarist and the teachers at ipassio can help you uncover your hidden interests.
