Harmonium Lessons for Beginners and Intermediates
Harmonium Lessons for Beginners and Intermediates is a 52 week course, with one lesson each week for a total of 52 lessons. This course will provide students with all foundational knowledge necessary for harmonium enthusiasts to move onto the next level of their musical career. Pandit Jyoti Goho will meet with each student during the first video lesson and create a lesson plan tailored to each students' needs. Instruction language will be in English, Hindi or Bengali.

Course Details
The content covered during this course will vary depending on each students' needs. Whether starting this course as a beginner or at an intermediate level, instructor Pandit Jyoti Goho Ji is prepared to cover the basic harmonium playing lessons, including scales, octaves, reeds, and tuning. This course will also provide students with an understanding of Raaga, including the intricacies and details as it is executed on the harmonium. Students of all backgrounds will receive the expert guidance of Pandit Jyoti Goho Ji during lessons on harmonium accompaniment, playing harmonium while singing, playing harmonium solo, as well as playing and singing Semi-Classical, Ghazal, Qawali, Bhajan, and Bollywood songs on request. Instruction language will be in English, Hindi or Bengali.
About Mr. Pandit Jyoti Goho: Inspired by his mother's beautiful and melodious voice, Pandit Jyoti Goho developed a keen interest in music at a young age and has become one of the most sought after harmonium players in the country. Pandit Jyoti Goho learned harmonium under the skilled tutelage of Shri Deb Kumar Banerjee and also studied Hindustani vocal music under gurus Pandit A.Kanan, Shri Sanat Banerjee and Shri Biren Bose. His harmonium accompaniments have been noted for their subtleness and have even garnered praise from Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, one of the most beloved vocal legends of all time, commending him as being “extremely supportive as a harmonium accompanist”. Pandit Jyoti Goho has performed with leading Indian Classical legends and maestros at all of the major music conferences in the country as well as all over the world, such as Canada, USA, France, UK, Germany, Holland, Middle East, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Australia. He is also one of the few lucky performers to have performed in China twice. Besides performing, Pandit Jyoti Goho teaches music at his own institute Indradhanu in Kolkata as well as Online to enthusiastic Vocal and Harmonium students across the globe!

This course will make one very much acquainted with the Instrument Harmonium, know its basics and details. An overall knowledge of Music along with its intricacies and details can be developed by one. Students will learn basic sargams / vocal exercises, some bandishes and bhajans. Overall content of the lessons will depend on the student's pickup ability.

Much known for his sensitive playing and appropriate embellishments, thereby enhancing the level of vocal performance to a significant extent, Jyoti Goho has been fortunate to have received accolades from one of the most treasured vocalists of all times, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi - with whom he has accompanied many times, among several other top vocalists — as being "extremely supportive as a Harmonium accompanist". Jyoti Goho has performed in all the major music conferences of the country and toured virtually the length and breadth of the globe with his Harmonium, some of the countries being U.S.A., Canada, U.K., France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. China is also one country where he is one of the few fortunate ones to have performed.
Son of Shri Shyam Sundar Goho and Shrimati Bela Goho, Jyoti Goho imbibed the art of singing by virtue of his mother's melodious voice. As he grew up in a musical atmosphere, he persevered to learn classical vocal music from knowledgeable Gurus Shri Sanat Banerjee and Shri Biren Bose, until he came at the feet of the great maestro and Guru Pandit A. Kanan, who thereafter nurtured him out of his vast experience and also encouraged him to embark on a career as a Harmonium accompanist and soloist, a foresight that proved immensely fruitful in the long run. With subsequent training in Harmonium received under the meticulous care of Pandit Deb Kumar Banerjee, Jyoti Goho soon rose in stature to be a Harmonium accompanist of superlative standards within the country and abroad. His long association with the maestro vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty also helped him immensely in learning the exacting standards and techniques of sensitive accompaniment, treading on his ability to understand and adjust according to the mood and the spirit of the performer. Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu, the eminent singer and musicologist, also played the role of a true guardian in guiding Jyoti Goho to come to the limelight of professional stage all over the world.
Jyoti Goho was a member of the music faculty at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata for 25 years from 1993 till 2018. Presently, besides performing all over the country and abroad, he is also conducting Online Classes to both foreigner and Indian students and teaching regularly at his institute Indradhanu School of Music in North Kolkata.
As a course for both beginner and intermediate level students, Students will, however, need to have their own harmonium, pen and paper for taking notes, and a desire to learn, along with the time to dedicate to online lessons as well as independent practice. This course is applicable to both children and adults and is appropriate for children ten years and older. Skills obtained after successful completion of this course will vary depending on the level of skill of each student, however, all students will have a full understanding of the basic elements of the harmonium instrument. Student’s will also have the opportunity to learn to play musical pieces from the genre of their choice.
