Intermediate Harmonium picks up where instructor Kundalkar’s previous course, Basic Harmonium, leaves off. Beginning with a review of basic concepts like swara and taals, this course proceeds to include Hindustani Raga Sangeet and an in-depth overview of the raga melodic system, including several compositions and bandishes. Instructor Suyog Kundalkar will guide students through the many advanced harmonium techniques and skills that set apart the beginners from the professionals. Finally, Kundalkar will impart the qualities of performing as an accompanist, as well as a solo artist, in a professional setting.

Students enrolling for this course on ipassio can be sure that they receive individual attention from the teacher, as the class strength is limited to 1 or 2 students. It also gives teachers the opportunity, to gauge their students progress in depth and make changes whenever and wherever required, to ensure the student gets the maximum out of this course. Since this course is detailed, students get the advantage of learning intricate details about this art form. The limited strength of the class also ensures that there is a strong bond between the students and their teacher clearing out any inhibitions that the student might have. The sustained guidance available from the teacher ensures that the student does not deviate from set goals or targets. Learning from a revered, experienced exponent of this art form, through the long duration of this course, keeps the student inspired and motivated to achieve more.
Before enrollment, students will need a pen and paper to take notes, a well-tuned harmonium, as well as a tabla and tanpura device. To succeed in this course, students should have a basic understanding of the Khyaal system in Hindustani music. If a student does not have a basic understanding of the Khyaal system, the previous course in this series, Basic Harmonium Lessons, should be completed prior to enrollment. Students should ensure they have the time to not only commit to the online courses, but also time for independent practice between lessons.
