In this 52-week course, students will be introduced to musical notation and 2 to 3 vocal exercises every week. Once these have been covered, students will be introduced to raga music and will be taught 7 to 8 different ragas. Then the students will be introduced to the concepts of tala and laya, or speed and rhythm. By the end of the course, the students will obtain the ability to sing and present raga in both, Chhota Khayal and Bada Khayal form. Additionally, the teacher will help the students in mastering their pitch. Students of this course will flourish under the instruction of an expert in Hindustani classical music and will receive an excellent grasp of this musical style.
