Introduction | Acrylic Painting
This course is a beginner course for students wishing to explore acrylic painting as an artform. Students are taught the fundamentals of understanding colors and are trained on the use of acrylic as a painting medium. This course encourages creativity among students by encouraging them to try out different styles and techniques, using acrylic paints in their paintings. By the end of this course students will be able to use the medium of acrylic to give expression to their imagination on canvas or a drawing sheet.

Course Details
This course predominantly introduces students to acrylic as a painting medium. It starts from the basics to educated students on the advance methodologies of using acrylic. It begins with an introduction to color theory introducing students to the primary, secondary and complementary colors. It goes onto demonstrate to students creating transparency, opacity, intensity or brightness by using colors. Moving on it teaches students about color contrast and attributes, such as interaction, harmony, psychology, mood. It will teach students about composition relating to balance, asymmetry, rhythm, shapes, proportion and lighting. Further on students learn about media characteristics and surfaces, learning about the mediums like acrylic and oil paints as well as surfaces such wood, paper and canvas. Stepping ahead in this course students will learn about different painting techniques, namely, layering, batic style, wash, impasto, knife painting, dabbing and spongin. Moving ahead in this course students will be briefed about painting history introducing to students major painting styles and masters, renaissance, realism, impressionism, post impressionism, expressionism, modernism, abstract expressionism and postmodernism.
