Lessons for Intermediate to Professional Level Flutists
Weekly private lessons geared for the intermediate to professional level flutist. Over the course of ten, 45-minute classes, Robert Cart will teach the students to develop musical phrasing and contour, interpretation, diversity of tone color, diversity of musical styles, technique, embouchure, hand position, posture and balance, and breathing. A strong desire to improvise on the instrument and musical fluency is a must!

Course Details
Students taking this course will receive 1-on-1 instruction from Robert Cart for 45 minutes each week for ten weeks. In this course, students develop musical phrasing and contour, interpretation, diversity of tone color, diversity of musical styles, technique, embouchure, hand position, posture and balance, and breathing. Further, community engagement, entrepreneurial skills, and professional decorum will be addressed. Each student will receive unique, individualized instruction based upon their specific goals and needs.
In these 10 live sessions, students will learn musical phrasing and contour, interpretation of various periods of classical music repertoire, techniques for diversifying tone color, exercises for developing the embouchure. Students will further also dive into the correct hand position, correct posture and balance, breath management, intermediate to advance solo repertoire, and orchestra excerpts.
About the Coach: Robert Cart is a renowned American flutist who has toured Asia, the Americas and Europe including numerous performances in Shanghai, London, Mexico City, Sorrento, New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Washington, DC. He has worked with very notable conductors such as Raymond Leppard, David Zinman and Leonard Bernstein, and performed at popular international festivals such as Italy's Ravello Festival, Tanglewood, Aldeburgh Festival in the UK and Wolf Trap.
Making his debut at the age of 16 years old, Robert performed Mozart’s "Concerto in D" in Indianapolis. Over his many active years as a performing soloist, he has played at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, the Kimmel Center, Weill Hall, the Alice Tully Hall in the Lincoln Center, the Whitehouse, Merkin Concert Hall, the Mexican Cultural Institute, the Philips Collection and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Robert's performances of chamber music include notable appearances with Coolidge, the Julius, the Envoy String quartets and Heimat. He is also the founder and main flutist of the Montclair Wind Quintet, the Cali Chamber Ensemble and PhillyQ. Robert is also currently a professor of flute at the Cali School of Music, teaching to many undergraduate and graduate-level flutists. He also presents master classes and clinics worldwide.
