Q: How much time should a student devote to self-practice on a daily basis?

This course will require practice time outside of lessons. Time spent practicing may vary from 15 minutes per day to an hour, depending on a student’s level of interest. Students who wish to become professional guitarists will need more hours of practice per day using a different set of exercises and materials than students who are seeking to learn guitar as a hobby. A detailed structure for home practice for each student will be discussed and explained during class.

Q: What if a student is unable to attend an upcoming class?

The student is required to inform the teacher about his/her absence from a particular session, two days prior to the class. In such a case, the teacher will reschedule the class and conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student. In case the student misses to give two days prior notice about his/her absence to the teacher, then the decision to conduct another class for that student is completely based on the teacher’s discretion.

Q: How long will a teacher take to revert to students’ queries after class hours?

Students should get a response within 24 hours if the teacher is not preoccupied or traveling.

Q: What if the teacher wishes to reschedule a class?

About the Course

The highlights of the course are -

Learning the ‘Major Scale' and its different positions of playing. The major scale is a seven-note scale consisting of a specific pattern of whole steps (W) and half steps (H) between the notes.
Learning the 'Natural Minor Scale' and its different positions - The natural minor scale is derived from the major scale and has a distinct sound. It is extensively used for playing rock, pop, and also classical music.
Learning the CAGED system (Nut position chords) - It is a popular way to understand the relation between the chord shapes and the underlying fretboard. It helps guitarists navigate the neck and play chords, scales, and arpeggios in various positions.
Learning common time signatures with subdivisions of the beat will help the students to understand the organization of the beats within a musical measure.
Practicing right-hand rhythm patterns and learning how to come up with your own patterns. The right hand is the picking hand (for right-handed players). It plays a crucial role in creating rhythmic patterns and accents.

About the Teacher

Kushal Kundu started developing his knack for music in his childhood. He belongs to a family of musicians. His father is a certified drummer, his mother is a singer and his brother is a drummer and a music director. He started playing on stage when he was 15 years old. He plays in his renowned folk fusion band 'Bolepur Bluez', and a western band 'The Jiverz'. Along with these he has played as a Session Guitarist for a travel show on the Discovery channel and Government Project on Light and Sound shows in various cities.

He has been an active professional guitar player since 2007 and did more than 500 stage shows. He started teaching guitar playing and music in 2014 and taught more than 100 students on a one-on-one basis. Worked as a Guitar teacher in a music school for a year.
