This guitar course will vary depending on the skill level of each student. Basics are provided including topics such as: parts of a guitar, a detailed fretboard overview, and basic guitar exercises to strengthen coordination, muscle memory, and fingering. Once the student has a basic understanding of the mechanics of the instrument and proper fingering, this course will continue on to include an introduction to major scales. These scales will include diatonic chord progressions (in triads), diatonic chord progressions (in 7th’s), as well as muscle strengthening scale workouts that provide groupings and intervals designed to increase muscle memory and accuracy utilizing the CAGED System. For more advanced students this course will also include various techniques including string bending, hammer ons and pull offs, viratto, and slides.

It also gives teachers the opportunity, to gauge their students progress in depth and make changes whenever and wherever required, to ensure the student gets the maximum out of this course. As a course accommodating beginners, there are no prerequisites required before enrollment. Students will need to ensure they have enough time to commit to the online courses as well as time to practice independently to strengthen their skills. Those enrolling in this course will need their own instrument (either acoustic or electric guitar), paper and pen for taking notes, and a book of guitar notations. Successful completion of this course will ensure each student is prepared to enroll in the next, Intermediate Guitar Course.
