This course will delve into complex compositions and advance level of playing the tabla. Course Details
This course is an advance course in tabla that helps students graduate from being amateur tabla players to the proficient level. Students undergoing this course will be exposed to complex and advanced lessons in tabla. Thus it is required that students enrolling have the understanding of intermediate level when enrolling. This course will introduce students to new taals such as rupak, a popular rhythmic structure usually used in bhajan and geets. Rupak follows a seven beat cycle and has three vibhags. Students also get to practice and learn advanced levels of jamp taal and teen taal to get a clear understanding of taals a vital component in respect to playing the tabla. Further on students will be practicing extensively on advance level kaidas, tukras, gats, chakradhar. Students will also learn how to make tihai by learning tabla based formulae. This course is attuned to get students accustomed to play the tabla with comfort and poise. It enables them to venture into performing complex and advance level compositions.

About Sunayna Ghosh: Sunayna’s attraction to rhythm and beats started at an early age when she picked up learning the tabla at the tender age of six. Her mother a vocalist has been a major influence in the life of the gifted tabla player. Sunayna groomed her tabla playing skills, initially under the guidance of Samar Mitra and later under the renowned tabla exponent, late Pt. Shankar Ghosh of the Farrukhabad gharana and continued training under the guidance of his son tabla maestro Bikram Ghosh. Today Sunayna is a renowned female tabla player who has showcased her talent both in India and abroad. Sunayna’s talent is not restricted to just tabla as she is also trained in Kathak and vocals.
This course provides with the required knowledge to help you graduate from an amateur tabla player to an efficient and proficient level. Undergoing this course will enable you to participate in competitions or as accompaniment for musicians. You will gain the confidence and the understanding to experiment and practice different compositions is different styles and would have gained sound understanding of improvisations.

3) Tabla hammer;
