About the Teacher
Pandita Anuradha Pal is a tabla player, composer, and educator with 30 years of professional experience. She is a true Torchbearer of Ustads Alla Rakha & Zakir Hussain’s gharana.
Her performing career spans over 5,000 concerts across 30 countries, including landmark appearances at WOMAD (UK), Woodstock (Poland), and with the Vienna Boys' Choir (Austria). She is a recipient of the First Ladies National Award — among 108 awards and citations across her career — and holds a Masters in Indian Music with university topper distinction from Bharati Vidyapeeth.
As an educator, Anuradha has taught and conducted workshops at Harvard University, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Berkeley School of Music, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, UCLA, the University of Pennsylvania, Monash University (Australia), and the New England Conservatory — where she was invited as Artist-in-Residence. Her research on the relationship between music, language, and the brain has been presented at the Harvard Science Centre and Neurosciences University.
Her teaching draws on this breadth of experience. The classical rigour, cross-cultural musical intelligence, and a deep understanding of how rhythm is learned and internalised.
