This is an OnliVe (Online + Live), exclusive, 1-on-1, first-level intermediate course for Bharatanatyam. Taught by the acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer Veena CS, expect to learn the best in this classical dance form as you pick up the dance concepts in this first level of the intermediate course. Enrolled students will pick up the latter chapters of the Natya Shastra and will consequently pick up another 40-80 shlokas after finishing the initial two levels of the course. This first-level intermediate course is a continuation for those learners who started with the second-level beginner course of Bharatanatyam, taught by Veena C.S. This Bharatanatyam curriculum will continue with the students learning the different concepts and meanings of the different patterns in the dance form. The theoretical elements of the course will include a detailed study of the Nritta, Nritya, Natya from Abhinaya Darpana, Mayura, Ardhachandra, Arala, Shukhatundaka, Mushti, Shikara, Kapita, Katakamukha, Pada Bheda, Mandala Bheda and Sthanaka Bheda. The practical elements of this course will include tat tai tha ha- dhith thai tha ha-4 and Periya adavu-Tat tai tham adavu-6. Your instructor, Veena C.S, will take the students through the different stages of the learning process, and the meanings of various terms and concepts so that each student has a true understanding of the art form.
Apart from this, the students will also continue to learn the different physical exercises required to keep up with the learning process and pace, from the basic Tattadavu to the more advanced Sarikkal Adavu. This course duration is up to 6 months and will be held for 45 mins per session but, ultimately, the progress depends on the progress and comfort of the student. Additionally, a thorough study of dance such as this second-level beginner course builds strength, confidence, and depth of expression that can enhance many areas of life. This course requires regular physical practice and weekly face-to-face sessions with the teacher.
About Ms. Veena Chikkanahalli Seshadri: From a young age, Veena Chikkanahalli Seshadri had a strong interest in dance, art, and drama. Throughout the 25 years of experience that followed, she has performed and taught Bharatanatyam all over the world. She trained professionally at the Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts, as well as with Guru Minal Prabhu and Guru Jayalakshmi Eshwar. Now a guru in her own right, she's a renowned dancer and choreographer who has been the recipient of numerous distinguished awards and achievements, including a grade A from Doordarshan, an Empanelled artist of ICCR, the Natya Mayuri title from Sadhana International Art and Yoga Festival in Beijing, and an honour by Sur Noopur, New Delhi in recognition of excellence in teaching. Veena C.S. is recognized as the embodiment of Bharatanatyam and she brings expertise and passion to each performance and lesson.
