Attain Proficiency in Playing Tabla with Taal Kriya

The objectives this course aims to achieve -

• Learn complex rhythmic patterns like tihais, chakradhars, and gats.
• Explore different rhythmic cycles (taals) such as Dhamaar and Rudra Taal.
• Learn Kayada and Rela in Teental, Japtaal and Rupak. Learn Chakradhar, Tukada, Mukhda and Tihai in above Taals
• Develop longer solo compositions (relas, tukras, chakkars) with improvisation and speed.
• Practice accompanying other musicians in various settings like classical concerts and fusion music.
• Improve techniques for better clarity, speed, and control, including finger techniques like "Tirkit" and "Takita."
• Deepen understanding of tabla bols, their variations, and their use in compositions.
• Understand Indian classical music theory, including raga structures and tempo variations.
• Learn about stage presence, concert manners, and interacting with other musicians.
• Create a practice routine for consistent improvement, including technical exercises.
• Analyze performances of famous tabla players to broaden musical knowledge.
• In the theory part, you will learn the history of Tabla, the concept of Baaj and Gharana, Shastra of Tabla, notation writing, and the concept of Lay and Laykari. 

About the Teacher

Dr. Atul Raosaheb Kamble is a distinguished Head of Department and Assistant Professor of Tabla at the School of Kalayoga, Chinamaya Vishwavidypeeth, Pune. He serves as a mentor for aspiring scholars as a PhD guide. With a passion for tabla since the age of 11, Atul honed his skills under the tutelage of renowned maestros such as Shri G. D. Badde, Late Shri Pramod Raichurkar, and Pt. Mukesh Jadhav, and currently continues his training under the guidance of Tabla Maestro Pt. Aditya Kalyanpur. Holding a Master’s degree in music from the University of Pune, he was honored with a Gold Medal by Shri K. Shankar Narayanan (Ex-Governor of Maharashtra). Atul has made significant contributions to the field of Indian classical music, both as a performer and educator. He is a sought-after accompanist for esteemed artists and has been teaching Tabla privately as well as at Victorious Kidss Educares, an IB World School in Pune. Alongside his teaching and performances, Atul is a dedicated researcher, having presented and published numerous papers, culminating in his PhD on the life and contributions of Ustad Allarakha. His dedication and talent have earned him prestigious awards such as the Ustad Inam Ali Tabla Vadan Purskar, Pt. Pannalal Ghose Purskar, and Yuva Tabla Vadak
