Students who would enroll in this long-term Tabla course will be exposed to advanced lessons in Tabla, and so, it is recommended for only students who have completed 5 years of Tabla training. The application of the theoretical techniques will be discussed in these online sessions where the enrolled students will be learning Tabla extensively on the advanced theme and variation-based compositions: Kaidas & Relas and fixed compositions such as Tukras, Gats, Parans, and Chakradar. Students completing this course will be able to perform in front of an audience after regular practice and learning with commitment.
Advanced compositions will be taught on Teental (16 beats), Jhaptaal (10 beats), and Rupak (7 beats). Students will get guidance on how to play a Tabla Solo, step by step with the lehra accompaniment on Harmonium or Sarangi. Also, your instructor for the course, Sourabh Goho will share his experience on how to accompany instrumental music and vocals in the genres of Hindusthani Classical, Semi-Classical, Light Music (Ghazal, Bhajan, Regional songs, etc), and Experimental Fusion Music (with grooves). Apart from teaching compositions, applications will be taught. The students will also be practicing five different tempos in Teentaal, Rupak, and Jhaptaal. Single (1), 1.5 times, Double (2), 3 times & Chaugun (4 times). Students will learn How to make a Tihai along with some complex rhythm exercises on micro beats and Three Jatis (finger counts of the beat) out of Five: Tisrajati (3), Chatusrajati (4) & Khandajati (5) and will also learn how to fit a Jhaptaal composition in Teentaal.
About the instructor: Your instructor for this course is the famous Tabla veteran Sourabh Goho. Born to an acclaimed musician father, Harmonium Maestro Pandit Jyoti Goho, Sourabh entered the world of music at the tender age of five. A couple of years later Sourabh was training with renowned Tabla Legend, Late Pandit Shankar Ghosh, and also took talim from Eminent Percussionist and Composer, Maestro Bickram Ghosh. Another couple of years and the young Tabla player was performing for his master’s orchestra at the age of nine. Sourabh’s undoubted talent kept evolving complimented by his perfecting skills, leading him to earn a National Scholarship Award from the Government of India in 2010. The scholarship is not the only feather in his cap as he has accumulated awards and accolades aplenty. Sourabh as a young exponent of Tabla has been enchanting audiences, at home and abroad, with his skillful mastery of the Tabla. He has recently been a participant in the coveted Latin Grammy award-winning album "70 Veces 7" of a famous band from Latin America called Alfareros. Sourabh currently teaches Tabla in five continents and in 10 countries around the globe. He has successfully taught more than 50+ online students and 100+ students physically at his institute Indradhanu in Kolkata. In his late twenties, Sourabh has a bright distinct future in front of him with every possibility he gets his name etched in the history books as one among the illustrious tabla artists of his generation.
This advanced course is best suited for those enrolled students looking to hone their skills and wish to take their tabla playing to a professional level. Students will get well versed in playing different complex compositions following the various rhythmic cycle of varying beats. This course by Sourabh Goho also enhances the tabla players solo playing and accompaniment abilities with its emphasis on making the student capable of performing in front of an audience. The rigorous practice of at least two to three hours, through the duration of this course, ensures students can carry on exploring complex compositions and try various improvisations.

This Advanced Tabla course requires: Priorly acquired good knowledge about the tabla and elementary compositions. The students joining this course must have 5+ years of experience.
